Boudoir Questions You’re Too Embarrassed to Ask

Scrolling your phone at lunch, sneaking peeks at local boudoir portfolios, hoping no one at work notices half-naked thumbnails on your screen… sound familiar? Finding the right photographer is daunting enough; then come the “OMG, can I even ask that?” questions about periods, grooming and privacy.

I already cover the basics in my general boudoir FAQ. This page dives into the blush-worthy stuff. the questions 99 % of my Brisbane clients DM me after midnight. Nothing is off-limits and there’s zero judgement here.

1. What if I’m on my period?

Aunt Flo is welcome in the studio. I simply recommend tampons or a cup (pads show through sheer fabric). Heavy-cramp day? We’ll happily reschedule free of charge, your comfort comes first.

2. How much grooming should I do “down there”?

Totally your call! Most clients choose a tidy Brazilian or landing strip, but rocking full au naturel is 100 % okay. If you wax, do it 5–7 days prior so any redness calms before shoot day.

3. I’m a lady in public but a freak in bed, can you capture my inner freak?

Bring the stilettos, rope or latex. We’ll discuss boundaries first, keep everything tasteful, and create images that feel equal parts edgy and empowering.

4. Can you make me look more attractive?

You’re already a total smoke-show. My job is clever posing, flattering light and subtle retouching (blemish tidy, colour grading) to reveal it. I'll never plastic-skin Photoshop fakery from me.

5. Will I need to be completely naked?

Nope. Boudoir ≠ nudity. Some clients wear cosy knits, others go implied topless, a few choose art-nude silhouettes. Your comfort, your call.

6. How often do you wash the bedding / props?

After every shoot. Sheets, quilts & robes hit a 7-hour sanitise cycle; faux-fur and throws are swapped or dry-cleaned. No communal sheepskin situation here!

7. Will my photos ever appear online?

Only with your written model release. Roughly 30 % of clients say “yes” to website features, the rest stay 100 % private on encrypted drives.

8. Do you photograph plus-size or post-partum bodies?

Absolutely. From size 6 to 26+, all bodies deserve great photographs. I use pose coaching and wardrobe tips to highlight your favourite curves.

9. I’m terrified of posing—will you guide me?

Yes. I demo every pose (prepare to laugh), adjust limbs by centimetres, and show back-of-camera previews so you know you look 🔥 before we move on.

10. Can my partner join the shoot?

Yes, couples boudoir is one of our most requested add-ons. We’ll plan poses that celebrate connection, not cheesy magazine covers.

11. How long is a typical session?

Plan for three hours door-to-door: 60 min hair & makeup, 60 min shooting, 30 min snack break & same-day image reveal.

12. What lingerie works best on camera?

Solid blacks, deep jewel tones, bodysuits, and high-waist knickers photograph best. Avoid tiny busy prints, they can moiré under studio strobes.

13. Will I see my photos before buying?

Yes, same-day reveal on a 55″ screen. You purchase only the images you love. Average client spend in 2025 was $1 785, but there’s no minimum order.

14. Do you offer payment plans?

Sure thing. Split your invoice over 6–40 weeks.
