First Time Doing a Boudoir Shoot? Read This First.
Booked your shoot? Hell yes. Now the nerves are kicking in? Totally normal. But don’t stress—your boudoir session isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, owning your space, and walking away with photos that make you say, “That’s really me.”
Here are 5 ways to prep for your boudoir shoot and walk in feeling confident, relaxed, and ready to smoulder.
1. What to Wear
Wear what makes you feel like you. That’s the golden rule. If something’s too tight, too skimpy, or just not your vibe, skip it. Comfort = confidence = killer photos.
A few pro tips:
Pick colours that flatter your skin tone. Think black for fair skin, jewel tones or brights for darker tones.
Bring a mix of styles, bodysuits, lacy sets, cozy layers.
Avoid anything too stiff or fussy. You’ll be moving, posing, and possibly lounging on a bed. Your outfit needs to work with you.
And if you’re not sure what looks best? Bring options. I’ll help you decide.
2. Nervous? You’re Not Alone
Whether you're shy, bold, or somewhere in between, we work at your pace. I demo every pose, check in often, and keep things light and fun. Your comfort is non-negotiable.
During your consult, you’ll get a feel for my vibe and how I work. Spoiler: I’m relaxed, honest, and I love a good hype-up. That first five minutes of “omg what am I doing” fades fast once the music starts and the laughs kick in.
3. A Little Prep Goes a Long Way
Want that soft, glowy skin look?
Exfoliate gently 2–3 days before your shoot
Moisturise dry spots (elbows, knees, ankles)
Shave or wax if that’s your thing, but not right before the shoot
Love a tan? Apply it early and go light to avoid streaks
Naturally pale? Flaunt it. You’re stunning as is
None of this is required. These are just little polish-ups if you’re into the details.
4. Let’s Talk Makeup
We’ve got a pro hair & makeup artist ready to glam you up. But if you have a signature lip colour, holy-grail foundation, or anything you feel better using, bring it along. We’re here to enhance your features, not change your face.
If you’ve got inspo, show us. We’ll create a look that fits you and the shoot’s vibe.
5. What to Bring With You
Pack a little boudoir bag:
Water + snacks (photoshoots take energy!)
Lip gloss, blotting papers, or makeup for touch-ups
Extra lingerie sets or accessories in case you want to switch it up
A killer pair of heels, never required, but always a power move
The more options you bring, the more freedom we have to play with your look.
One Last Thing
This is your shoot. You set the tone. Whether you arrive in a silk robe and stilettos or your comfiest jumper with nothing underneath, we’ll create something that feels true, powerful, and beautifully you.
Nerves are normal. But trust me, you’re going to walk out feeling ten feet tall. And your photos? They’ll remind you exactly who you are.
